Down goes Wes Matthews

Over the past few seasons it seems like 1 or 2 guys have been going down because of Achilles injuries and unfortunately it couldn't have come at a worse time. Wesley Matthews tore his Achilles last night drastically hurting Portland's depth and chances of a deep playoff run and more than likely putting a huge damper on anyone fighting for the playoffs who own him, or those counting on him down the stretch.

Arron Afflalo is clearly the main beneficiary here, but you'll want to keep an eye on Dorrell Wright and Alonzo Gee.

Long term, Achilles injuries can take quite a bit of time to come back from, which puts Matthews chance of being ready for next season in doubt.

considering Yahoo's trade deadline was yesterday, that's particularly even more painful. Now folks are left with figuring out what to do from their free agent pool.
